Karilyn Owen is a family travel blogger (www.nobackhome.com), exploring her way through her new home city of Los Angeles with her 5 year old son in tow. Since 2000, Karilyn has traveled to 40 countries on her own and to 16 with her son.

After years of working with the homeless population in San Francisco, Karilyn moved to Mumbai, India where she worked extensively with low-income and homeless communities on education, health and social issues. Through her day to day activities in Mumbai, she began blogging as a means to share her world with others. During her 8.5 years abroad, Karilyn became more and more interested in storytelling and photography.

Returning to the US in 2014, Karilyn has focused her energy on inspiring families to get out an explore the world, starting in their own cities! Writing about local adventures from kid focused events to local hikes and day trips to national parks, Karilyn aims to provide hassle free information for families who don’t have time to research the ins/outs of travel. In addition to a focus on family travel, Karilyn also writes on topics relating to travel and social impact.
