Personal Statement

Kyle McCarthy is the co-founder and editor of Family Travel Forum, the trusted vacation planning resource serving all who Have Kids, Still Travel!® with print and online guides since 1996. She has led FTF’s Family Travel Consulting strategic marketing team, working with travel businesses and the government tourism offices of Finland, Jordan and Goa, India to examine best practices in attracting the family market.

In addition to publishing MyFamilyTravels.com (the Wall St. Journal’s pick as “Best for Grandparents”), The Family Vacationist blog and e-newsletter, Ms. McCarthy co-hosts the annual TMS Family Travel Conferences and Summits for media influencers and the travel trade.

As a noted expert in the family travel field, she has spoken to audiences at the New York Times Travel Show, Society of PR Professionals, ASTA, Society of American Travel Writers and other venues, as well as on radio and TV.

Together with the FTF community, McCarthy co-authored “America’s Most Popular Family Vacations” (2015), “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Best Family Destinations” (Penguin, 2011) and edited “Amazing Places to Take Your Kids” (PPI, 2009).

Before becoming mom to Regan (now 23), she authored 12 guidebooks for the Frommer series covering Southeast Asia, Thailand, Greece and Turkey; freelanced for several publications and location managed feature films. Ms. McCarthy is proud to be on the Board of Advisors of the Family Travel Association, and a member of the IAB Long Tail Alliance, the New York Travel Writers Association, Society of Professional Journalists, and the Directors Guild of America.
