Personal Statement

As a kid, I was lucky to not only to move from my native Belgium to Ethiopia, and then to the U.S., but to have parents who were always up for a travel adventure. From the South of France to India, Zimbabwe to Quebec City, we were always in motion. Today, I have a solid home base in Alexandria, VA, a launching pad for trips with my favorite travel companions, my husband and three sons.

I run the blog, Belgium with Kids, co-wrote the e-book “Brussels with Kids,” and co-founded the family travel blog, All Over the Map. I write about travel, childhood, and education for numerous outlets, including The Washington Post, education.com, and Family Travel 411, and had weekly travel columns in Mount Vernon Patch and apartments.com. I recently started Pax Travel Design to help busy families realize their travel dreams while staying sane in the process.
