Skift Podcast Tackles Family Travel, Looks at Where It’s Headed In 2016

This week’s Skift Podcast looks at the family travel segment, what it has become and where it’s going. Released today, the recorded discussion is with Rainer Jenss, president and founder of the FTA, and George Fleck, VP of global brand management for Le Meridien and Westin. The SkiftTake: "Family travel has moved beyond the theme park and the chicken finger to become just as interesting as every other type of travel." Amen to that.

TravTrade to Power FTALinks Networking Platform

The FTA recently signed a partnership agreement with TravMedia | TravTrade to power the FTA’s new members-only online networking platform, FTALinks, scheduled to go live next month.

“TravMedia has been an industry staple for many for years,” said Rainer Jenss, FTA Founder & President. “With their TravTrade networking platform, they’re now making waves in an entirely new direction, providing us all with a professional networking platform dedicated to the travel industry.”

FTALinks

The FTALinks platform will help all FTA members network, share knowledge, access FTA information and more. Individuals who already have TravMedia or TravTrade profiles will automatically have them included in the FTALinks networking area.

“We’re very excited to power FTA’s networking platform,” noted Nick Wayland, CEO and Founder of TravMedia. “The FTA’s members are committed to growing the family travel space and we’re committed to helping them, in part by harnessing the TravMedia and TravTrade networks through a dedicated portal within the FTA’s website.”

Currently in beta testing, the FTALinks platform will be customized to the needs of the organization and its members, populated with relevant FTA information and launched for all members later in April.

FTA Media Center Nears 50 Members

The FTA Media Center has already almost grown to 50 media members, including travel journalists, bloggers, authors, broadcasters and industry experts. Everyone receives the benefits of membership crafted to help build a business and personal brand.

FTA Media Center

Here’s a hint of what’s coming: the FTALinks networking platform (see above) where all FTA members can connect online to showcase, share and learn about family travel; and an invitation to the Family Travel Association Summit 2016 in October. Of course, that’s just the beginning of the opportunities in store for Media Center members ready to actively participate in the FTA community dedicated to inspiring families to travel.

FTA Spotlight Shifts to Technology’s Impact on Family Travel

In the next step of our FTA Spotlight: Re/Defining Family campaign (download overview) we are searching for great resources about Technology’s Impact on Family Travel.

FTA Spotlight

Technological advancements have changed the character of family time and the nature of family travel. But while the quantity of family time evaporates, family vacations have become important as quality time. Technology should enable the making of memories, not compete with it.
