Second Annual FTA Summit Demonstrates Market Growth and New Opportunities for Travel Agents

Back in late October, at our successful FTA Summit, we shone a spotlight on travel agents at our second annual Summit. We have also begun reaching out to travel agents and creating a membership program only for travel advisors… like Leslie Overton, who was just named Condé Nast Traveler’s Top Travel Specialist for Family Travel for the ninth year. She joins a distinguished group of FTA-aligned experts being led by Amie O’Shaughnessy and including Sally Black of Vacation Kids and Ken Shapiro of TravelAge West.

Family Travel Gains Prominence at Travel Industry Exchange

Travel agents who attended the 2016 Travel Industry Exchange in San Diego learned more about the fast-growing and lucrative family travel market. Besides giving a keynote presentation highlighting the psychographics and demographics of traveling families in the U.S., our own Rainer Jenss was joined by some of our Media Members, including Sally Black, Jennifer Fontaine, Amber Mamian, Mia Taylor and Carrie Simmons, on a series of panel discussions designed to help agents who want to specialize in family travel. Noshane King (pictured below with Richard Todd, of Beaches as well, and Jenss) also sat on a panel that examined how to make family-friendly vacations appeal to kids of all ages.

Family Travel and Dude Ranches

In the last edition of our consumer-facing newsletter, we continued our deep dives into one topic at a time of interest to consumers. This month's topic was Family Travel and Dude Ranches. Because in today’s era of quick-paced modernization, invasive technology and growing detachment from nature (and one another), the ranch appeal is arguably more potent – for all generations – than ever before.
