From everything we saw, heard and experienced during the FTA 2018 Summit in Bermuda (Oct. 7-9), it can only be called a rousing success. The information and insights shared and connections made, contributed to what most felt was our best Summit yet.
The passion our members feel for this market, the innovative ways they help families discover what’s possible, and how they make travel more accessible to families, was on full display during the Summit. These sentiments will carry through to a number of projects we’re working on with our supplier, travel advisor and media members, continuing the dialogue and creating value for FTA members.
But we’re not resting on our laurels. That’s why we issued a survey via email directly after the Summit, to gather feedback from those who attended.
We’re happy to report that 84 percent of attendees rated the conference either very good or excellent, and 90 percent of attendees said they would recommend their industry colleagues attend next year’s summit. (South Dakota, Oct. 21-24, 2019.)
They also told us that we either exceeded expectations or that they were very satisfied with core elements like our keynote presenters (37 percent) and networking (35.6 percent). Learning about the latest family travel research and meeting travel agents (28.3 percent) were high on their satisfaction list, as was the ability to meet suppliers, travel media and influencers (26.1 percent).
At the same time, we heard what areas need improvement, so as we start planning for the #FTASummit2019, and we’ll be incorporating this feedback into our agenda planning over the next few months to make it even more outstanding. Look for communications from us as we start to firm up our plans, seek keynote speakers and panelists for our discussions. And please, always feel free to share with us your ideas to improve our Summits.
You can keep the dialogue and best practice sharing going in a variety of FTA sponsored channels. Currently, more than 180 members have joined our FTA Links closed Facebook group, a great way for our suppliers, destinations, media members and travel advisors to connect, discuss issues and seek out work-related connections.
Members are seeking out business partnerships, lodging ideas for themselves and their clients, and best practices for a variety of subjects, and have posted, commented or engaged with the group more than 900 times since the Summit.
