2020 Summit and COVID-19 update

I love the travel industry. We all do. We love the destinations we help families discover, the experiences we create that changes children’s lives, and the people we work with that make it all possible. As Jack Ezon recently wrote, remember, this is not a job about money, it’s a job about people & passion.

As an industry, we are all taking our lumps. That includes the FTA. I am writing to let you know that we have decided to postpone our 2020 FTA Summit to the spring of 2021. This action is in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and the significant impact it is having on the industry and all our members. We are taking this action after much deliberation and input from our board and fellow members. With so much uncertainty for what the future holds, we did not feel comfortable guaranteeing that we could host a Summit in a manner we’ve all come to expect. While we are hopeful that the outlook for travel and conferences will improve by October, we felt it prudent to cancel our plans for our 2020 dates now, so that we could provide some certainty to our members.

As such, we are suspending registrations for our 2020 Summit, and will be refunding all registration and room deposits made to date for attendees. These will be processed automatically – so there is no need to contact us to receive your refund. Please allow up to 14 days for processing.

While we won’t be meeting in person for the Summit in October, we are making a commitment to stay connected as a community. To that end, we are planning to conduct a series of FTA virtual member events, utilizing Facebook Live. Think of them as a series of virtual Summits, with a goal of bringing our community together for networking, information sharing, and mutual support.

We encourage you to join in these sessions to be with our family travel community and share your experiences, ideas, concerns, and dare I say, opportunities. You will be receiving communications about the schedule for these sessions over the next couple of weeks. All sessions will be recorded so if you are unable to join them live, you can view them as your schedule permits. We invite you to contact us with ideas and requests for topics and information to share on these virtual events.

During these challenging times, we have the opportunity for the FTA and all its members to get stronger in the long run. For us to prove our value. We are here to support you and will continue to offer the resources and community that you have come to expect from the FTA.
