The annual celebration underscores travel’s essential role in driving our nation’s economy, cultivating vibrant communities and forging connections.
You may already have your calendars marked, but if you didn’t, be sure you’re ready to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW), taking place May 19-25, 2024. This annual celebration, first established in 1983, marks the U.S. travel industry’s role in stimulating economic growth, cultivating vibrant communities, creating quality job opportunities, stimulating business activity and elevating the quality of life for everyday Americans.
There are several ways you can make NTTW a celebration of travel’s power, thanks to the NTTW toolkit made available by U.S. Travel:
Share the message!
As members of the industry, we all know the critical role it plays in powering our nation’s economy, communities and connections. You can demonstrate our industry’s critical importance in every corner of the country by using the messaging provided by U.S. Travel for a number of your communications.
Get active on various social platforms.
Using the hashtag #NTTW24, use social prompts and graphics to show followers exactly how far travel’s impact extends. Engage with U.S. Travel on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook.
Dive into the data!
The data speaks for itself! Last year, travel spending left a $2.8 trillion economic footprint on the U.S. economy and supported over 15 million jobs. Make sure those in your circle know these incredible facts! You could even use this data as a way to share the importance of travel with your local officials, some of which may issue a proclamation if asked. A sample proclamation can be found in the NTTW toolkit.
Draft a blog and/or press release.
Do a Q&A with leadership, your team members, or even past travelers and ask them to share their favorite travel memory, how travel changed their world view and more. You could also draft a press release with quotes from leadership. Share these materials on your website, in your enewsletters, on social and even pitch it to media.
(Note that while NTTW has historically been celebrated during the first full week of May, this year’s NTTW dates were shifted due to a conflict with U.S. Travel’s IPW.)
