Continuing its annual tradition of honoring the late Keith Bellows, who helped pioneer the start of the organization in 2014, the FTA awarded its 2020 Person of the Year to Heather Greenwood Davis. Meant to recognize an individual who truly embodies the mission and spirit of the Family Travel Association and whose work has raised the profile of our industry, Heather was an easy choice. But before FTA Board President Ken Shapiro officially revealed this year’s recipient, he gave a special acknowledgment on behalf of the FTA Board to our travel advisor members who have been on the frontlines, leading the way with dedication and perseverance in what has been a very difficult year. Since we couldn’t give an award to all of our advisors or pick just one, we wanted to honor them as FTA’s 2020 People of the Year!
Saving the best for last, Ken gave Heather Greenwood Davis a stirring introduction, highlighting her impressive resume as an award-winning journalist, contributing editor at National Geographic, great mother, loving wife, a colleague who is always willing to lend a hand to fellow writers, and above all, a person who cares deeply about making the world a better place.
