Gene Kilgore

In 1960, at the age of seven, Gene Kilgore visited his first dude ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Trail Creek Ranch left an indelible memory, and one that you might say resulted in this guide. It was Gene’s dream to become a doctor, and he followed this pursuit to medical school. It was there that he realized his heart and soul were meant to be outdoors where the buffalo roam. In 1980, he left to follow his heart, with a vision of being involved in guest ranching. And what a journey it has been. In 1980 he created the Kilgore Ranch Company. Today, Gene Kilgore’s name is synonymous with one of the world’s great traditions. He has travelled thousands of miles exploring ranches in the United States, Canada, and South America, bringing ranch country to millions of people worldwide. As a best selling author, Kilgore has appeared on radio programs and numerous TV networks including CNN, ABC’s Regis and Kathy Lee, CBS, and has been featured in the New York Times, People Magazine, National Geographic Traveler, and Sunset. He is one of the first lifetime members of the Dude Ranchers’ Association.
