Personal Statement

Leslie Harvey is a mother of two kids, ages 7 and 2, living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her site, Trips With Tykes, chronicles the joys and challenges of family travel with little ones. As a recovering attorney, she knows that the devil is often in the details. Her work focuses on identifying and overcoming the little logistical challenges of travel with young children that make so many families shy away from it before they even begin.

A self-proclaimed aviation geek, her travel passions include all things air travel (well, all things except TSA lines). She also has a deep, abiding, and life-long devotion to Disney, and makes trips to Disney destinations a focus of her family’s travels. Her family’s travel pursuits are nonetheless quite varied, including a recent jaunt to Panama City, Panama as well as a Southern California road trip exploring wacky roadside attractions along Route 66. Leslie has lived in California for more than a decade, but she still proudly holds onto the last vestiges of her Southern accent, acquired from a childhood growing up in Alabama.

In addition to publishing Trips With Tykes, Leslie regularly freelances for a number of other family travel-related sites, including TravelingMom.com, MommyNearest.com, and DisneyBaby.com.

Leslie has worked with numerous travel brands, including Disney Parks, Vacatia, CLEAR, Hyatt House, and MGM Resorts. Recent CVB partners have included Visit Palm Springs, the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp (Visit Music City), the Chattanooga Visitor Bureau, and Visit Phoenix.
