Michele Bigley

Michele Bigley is a Lowell-Thomas award winning travel writer and author of over forty guidebooks, including Fodor’s California, Northern California: An Explorer’s Guide, Rand McNally’s Best of the Road Atlas and Backroads and Byways of Hawaii. Her work regularly appears in the Los Angeles Times, Kia Ora, Boston Globe, Brides, and San Francisco Chronicle. She has contributed to AFAR.com, Perceptive Travel, Catamaran, Smart Set, Islands, CNN, Via, the inflight magazine of Singapore Air and many more.

Michele is a featured travel expert for CNN’s On the Go series. Her blog, Planet Playground, focuses on educating her kids through travel. She has produced two family travel apps for California.

Michele currently teaches writing at University of California Santa Cruz, UCLA Extension’s Writers’ Program, and California State University Monterey Bay. She leads travel writing workshops in California and Hawaii.

Currently, Michele is working on a book, Eight Feet on the Ground, about teaching her children about the planet they will inherit through travel.
