Little did her parents know that a short trip to Europe in high school would launch a lifetime love of travel, languages, exploration and cultures. Trained as a news journalist, Therese Iknoian spent a decade as a daily newspaper journalist when she earned her a Pulitzer Prize as a part of a news team. Ah, but the independent life called and she launching a freelance writing career, writing articles and authoring several books (and getting her masters in exercise physiology). All the while trotting the globe, her focus finally turned to travel with the launch of HI Travel Tales (www.HITravelTales.com) with her husband, Michael Hodgson. Recently, she also returned to her love of photography from a couple of decades earlier, and gravitated immediately toward street scenes, places and people that tell a story. Adventure is always a part of her travel – from urban side streets to Alpine summits. Fluent in German and not all so bad in French, she also runs a translation business (www.ThereseTranslates.com), working primarily with outdoor and sports companies. Therese loves to learn a bit of the language wherever she goes in the quest for cross-cultural communication and the search for great travel discoveries.
