FTA Travel Advisor Code of Ethics

FTA Travel Advisor Code of Ethics

The FTA welcomes travel advisors and travel agency members under adherence to the following code of ethics…

Professional conduct

FTA travel advisor members will conduct all activities professionally and with integrity. We take great care to be completely objective in our judgement and any recommendations that we give, so that issues are never influenced by anything other than the best and proper interests of our clients. In addition we treat fellow FTA supplier, media and advisor members with the same level of respect, professionalism and integrity. Any actions to the contrary will result in immediate dismissal from FTA membership.

Ethics

We always conduct our own services professionally, honestly and honorably. We expect our clients, suppliers and fellow advisors to do the same. FTA membership can and will be denied due to proven reports of contrary behavior or unprofessional-ism, including any form of harassment, be it based on gender, sexual orientation, race, creed, color, age or personal disability. Our advice, strategic assistance, resources and the methods imparted through our training take proper account of ethical considerations, together with the protection and enhancement of the moral position of our clients and suppliers.

Equality and non-discrimination

We believe every child and every family is entitled to fun and memorable vacation experiences. Our mission is to encourage families to travel together. We always strive to be fair and objective in our advice and actions. We are never influenced in our decisions, actions or recommendations by personal gain or issues of gender, sexual orientation, race, creed, color, age or personal disability.

Duty of care

The actions and advice of FTA member advisors will always conform to relevant law, and we believe that all business, including client recommendations and consultancy, should avoid causing any adverse effect on the human rights of people and organizations we deal with, the local and wider environments, and the well-being of society at large.

Confidentiality

We are committed to maintaining the highest degree of integrity in all our dealings with potential, current and past clients, both in terms of normal commercial confidentiality, and the protection of all personal information received in the course of providing the business services concerned. We extend the same standards to all our customers, suppliers and associates.

Conflict of interest

As FTA member advisors, we agree in good faith not to make intentional contact with or provide any service to any known client or employee from a fellow member. In addition, unless directly requested by the client, we will avoid any dealings with competitors’ clients even after the cessation of services.

Contracts

The quality of our service and the value of our support provide the only true reflection of our professionalism. We always do our best to meet our clients’ contractual requirements, particularly when it comes to problem solving and support in dealing with suppliers and situations beyond our personal control.

Fees

Any client service fees we charge as FTA member advisors are always competitive for the high-quality, tailored and specialized services we offer. Any discounts or reductions we offer will not be attempts to undercut our fellow agency members for equivalent levels of service. Nor will they engender a reduction in the level of service delivered to clients. Our goal is always to try to propose solutions that accommodate our clients’ available budgets and requirements. Wherever possible we disclose fees and the basis of client charges clearly and in advance, so that we and our clients can plan reliably for what lies ahead, how it is to be achieved and why it is financially justified.

Intellectual property and moral rights

All content, articles, videos, training programs and images appearing on the FTA website are owned by the creator, while irrevocable rights stay with the FTA unless otherwise agreed to. FTA member resources will not be shared with non-member entities without permission. In addition, we respect the moral and intellectual copyright vested in our clients’ and fellow members’ intellectual property.

Quality assurance

As FTA member advisors, we maintain the quality of what we do through constant ongoing review with our clients of all aims, activities, outcomes and the cost-effectiveness of every activity. We encourage regular review meetings and provide regular progress reports. We strive to always learn and improve in order to better serve our clients.
