Flathead Lake Lodge is a third-generation family-operated guest ranch on the shore of Flathead Lake in Bigfork, Montana. Founded in 1945 by Les Averill, the ranch combines lake recreation with a rich western heritage. Offering all-inclusive stays, Flathead Lake Lodge operates from mid-May through mid-October and welcomes guests to play, explore and experience Montana on its 2,000 acres. All-inclusive activities include horseback riding, sailing, mountain biking, water recreation, live music, a mountain-meadow steak fry and more. The ranch offers weeklong family stays during the summer, while spring and fall offerings include adults-only getaways. They’re also a prime time for destination weddings, meetings and retreats.

Tucked along the banks of Flathead Lake our cabins and lodge rooms are what we like to call luxury rustic. Each room is cozy, filled with hand-hewn furniture and handmade quilts. This dude ranch does provide Wi-Fi but that’s it – no televisions, which is how we like it. In addition, Glacier National Park is a scenic 45-minute drive from Flathead Lake Lodge, while Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) is the closest airport.

Flathead Lake Lodge is a family-friendly guest ranch with many of the main activities being children focused. The ranch has a unique kids program that allows children to have the freedom to explore the property through various activities. The kids program is broken up into age groups from 0 – 6 years, 6 – 12 years and teens. Some of the activities children are able to participate in are a junior wrangler program (where they learn basic horse care and handling), water sports, daily arts and crafts, canoe races and more.

Meals at this Montana dude ranch are a mix of Western dining and satisfying home cooking. All meals are made from scratch by Chef Rob and highlight fine cuts of local meat, fresh produce and delicious desserts. Some of our favorites range from bison tenderloin to homemade huckleberry pancakes and baked beans to our famous undone brownies.
